The Little Liar

Illinois, 2014

Donated by Jamie & April Allen

When it was placed in their daughter's bedroom, Jamie & April believed that this painting of an innocent child would be a source of comfort, if not a welcome addition to a barren wall. Instead, the piece ended up being a nightly source of terror for the helpless girl.

When she'd been tucked in and the lights turned out, the eight-year-old was horrified to hear a voice in the darkness whisper unsettling lies such as "Mommy and Daddy don't love you." The image had come with a troublesome attachment, and it didn't like children.

After being placed into storage for a number of years, the Little Liar was donated to the Traveling Museum of the Paranormal & Occult, where it remains under the watchful eyes - and ears - of the curators.
