In the deep blue waters of Lake Huron, astride the Straits of Mackinac, lies the crown jewel of the Great Lakes, Mackinac Island.
A profoundly special place of stunning natural beauty, visitors encounter a land where time has stood still: motor vehicles are banned and the primary means of transportation are foot, bicycle and horse-drawn carriage.
There aren’t many places more scenic than Mackinac Island in the fall. We will be visiting at the peak of their leaves turning and when the autumn air just begins to turn crisp. Our venue for this Escape, Mission Point Resort, anchors the southeast corner of this magical isle.
Yet, even in this peaceful setting, Mackinac has its share of darkness. It is famous for its bloody history, old buildings and along with that, more than a few ghost stories.
Join us as we tour the island, learn its rich history, talk everything ghostly – and make new friends, alive and dead.
Your weekend will include:
- A private meet and greet and mixer with your celebrity hosts.
- A Friday night costume ball with celebrity judges
- A private BBQ, evening tour and cannon firing at Fort Mackinac.
- A ghost tour through downtown Mackinac Island.
- A firsthand look at Planet Weird’s Traveling Museum of the Paranormal and Occult,
- Daily lectures with paranormal experts.
- A real paranormal investigation of the Mission Point Resort

Friday, October 12th
2:00 p.m. ~ Registration
Please arrive in the resort lobby between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to collect your badges for the weekend.
4:15 p.m. ~ Autograph Session/Meet and Greet with Celebrity Guests and Speakers*
Join us for a welcome reception. Meet your speakers and hosts for the weekend, snap pictures with them and ask as many questions as you’d like. *Light appetizers provided; cash bar available.
6:00 p.m. ~ Dinner Break
8:00 p.m. – Midnight ~ Costume Party and Costume Contest
Don your Halloween duds and get ready to party. David Yost, (YES, the Blue Ranger!), and Tyler Green of SyFy’s FaceOff fame will serve as celebrity judges and will be giving out prizes throughout the night. Prizes given for best group costume, best duo, scariest, most original and best overall!
Saturday, October 13th
10:00 a.m. ~ Haunts of Mackinac – Todd Clements
Haunts of Mackinac author, Todd Clements will give you an overview of the legends and ghostly claims surrounding the Mission Point Resort. He will also share evidence that his team has collected over their many investigations of the site.
11:15 a.m. ~ Investigation How-To with Tim Ellis and Brad Blair
Founders of the Upper Peninsula Paranormal Research Society and hosts of Creaking Door Paranormal Radio, Tim and Brad will show you the basics of how to look for ghosts, and provide insightful advice to even the most seasoned of investigators. These folks have been at this a long time and have investigated many of the most famous haunts on Mackinac Island. They will also be assisting with your investigation, so this is a do not miss.
12:30 p.m. ~ Lunch Break
2:00 p.m. ~ Dana and Greg Newkirk “Possessions: The Study of Haunted Objects”
The correlations between paranormal investigating and monster hunting might astound you.
4:00 p.m. ~ SFX Prosthetic Workshop with Tyler Green*
Join Tyler Green for a 2hr SFX Workshop Event! Learn how to create camera ready cuts and wounds using a variety of professional 3D Transfers! (All materials included)
*Additional charge required. Ticket sales close two weeks before event to order materials necessary.
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Group 1 – Meet at Fort Mackinac for private “after dark” tour, BBQ and cannon firing.*
*Weather permitting.
7:30 p.m. – Midnight ~ Group 2 – Investigation of Mission Point Resort
Break into small groups and investigate the sound stage, the theater, (where one of the most memorable scenes in Somewhere in Time was filmed), the theater basement and the Round Island Suite, (made famous by an episode of Ghost Hunters filmed here.)*
*We cannot accept requests for a preference of which night to investigate. Please plan on staying through the weekend and departing on Monday if you wish to investigate
Sunday, October 14th
11:00 a.m. ~ “Haunted Science, Old and New” with John Tenney
Known as the ‘creepiest guy in the paranormal’ (ok, we might’ve given him that title), John Tenney will illuminate you on science techniques that lend themselves to finding proof of the paranormal.
12:30 p.m. ~ Lunch Break
4:00 p.m. ~ “Investigation and Research Workshop” with Amy Bruni & Adam Berry
Get the lowdown on how to perform a REAL paranormal investigation. From picking a case, investigating, reviewing evidence and researching your location and its occupants, past and present.
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Group 2 – Meet at Fort Mackinac for private “after dark” tour, BBQ and cannon firing.*
*Weather permitting
